My name is Julia and I am the owner of Dharma Yoga Erie. I am an experienced yoga teacher at the 200 hour level (ERYT200). I have been teaching yoga and practicing meditation for 15 years. I have also been working as a Stress Management Specialist for the Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease, at Hamot Health Services, for the last 8 years. I believe that yoga is a deeply personal journey that gives us practical tools to aid us in the human journey. These tools teach us how to live - even in the midst of suffering, to a place without suffering - Peace! I teach my students that yoga is not, nor ever will be, a one size fits all exercise system for the body alone. My teaching style is influenced by the Kripalu and Iyengar traditions of yoga. I believe that Yoga practices help us to remember who we are, to connect to ourselves, and to engage more fully in life. Yoga has brought profound healing to me and to the people I work with in my classes. Classes Yoga for Beginners, Multi-level Hatha Yoga, Happy Heart Yoga, Warriors at Peace & Meditation classes. |

Coming into shavasana during my first yoga class in 1995 was one of the most profound
experiences of my life. The deep sense of peace and stillness started a journey to discover
how to maintain that feeling off the mat as much as possible (still a work in progress). In 2005 I completed my 200 hour Integral Yoga teacher training with Michael Plasha. I am drawn to teaching a gentle style of yoga with modifications and props to help make yoga accessible to as many people as possible. In the last 2 years I have completed training in Relaxation and Restorative Yoga with Dariel Woltz and Ageless Yoga: Teaching Yoga to our Elders with John Schlorholtz. I have been teaching chair yoga and multi-level classes at Asbury Barn since 2005. I have also taught at Plasha Yoga, Barefoot Buddha, UPMC Hamot and various fields, barns and living rooms across the county. I am thrilled to find a home for restorative yoga at Dharma Yoga.
